雖然嘉年華會在巴西各地的城鎮和村莊等天主教國家慶祝，但里約熱內盧一直被視為世界的狂歡節之都。里約狂歡節不僅是最大嘉年華，亦喺一個世界盛事。幾乎每個人都聽過里約熱內盧狂歡節。每年帶超過50萬外國遊客參觀。
